This is a program of the Canadian National Anglican Church. Established to provide aid in response to emergency crises anywhere in the world immediately, it now also responds to refugee and development needs as a combined appeal with the Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and United Churches of Canada.
The Primate’s Fund (PWRDF) gives priority to programs that:
The financial support from St. Philip that goes to the Primates World Relief and Development Fund is used as needed. Administration and fundraising account for about 10% of the PWRDF budget. The other 90% is spent meeting the mandate given the fund by General Synod. About two-thirds of this is spent directly on “works” – providing relief to meet various emergencies or on development projects with church partners around the world.
The remaining funds provide for a development education program for the Anglican Church of Canada as a whole (4.5%), grants to support various ecumenical social justice coalitions (4.5%) and staff who do the support work for all this (about 6%).
