Believing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a sign of the victory of God’s love over death, the Christian learns to accept with confidence this assurance of God’s love and the promise of eternal life.
Christian teaching takes death seriously, but not as a source of fear. In the face of judgment, there is the assurance of mercy and forgiveness. In the face of uncertainty of the unknown, there is knowledge of being held firmly in the hand of God. It is this confidence that forms the basis around which funeral and burial arrangements are made.
We believe that it is important when a death has occurred to celebrate the life of the person you loved. Doing so helps confirm the reality of the death both to you and to others who share in your loss. It provides an avenue for the expression of feelings and you begin to grieve. And it brings people together, as you express the final closure of a relationship.
The type of service is a matter of personal choice, but we encourage you to discuss your choices and record your wishes. Please speak to Christopher or Harry if you would like to make funeral or memorial service arrangements.
